Overview
Orion Money — now rebranded as Orion Staking — was a DeFi platform on the now defunct Terra ecosystem revolutionizing stablecoin savings by offering cross-chain integration and high-yield opportunities.
With backing from prominent investors like Delphi Digital and Terraform Labs, Orion Money provided tools like Orion Saver, Orion Yield & Insurance, and Orion Pay to maximize returns on stablecoin deposits.
During the 2021-2022 crypto bull market, the platform experienced significant hypergrowth.
In this period, their founder approached me to lead their marketing function, with the objective of scaling revenue through content creation and community engagement.
Scope
During my collaboration with Orion Money, I partnered closely with the founding team to build and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy focused on acquisition, engagement, and retention. This engagement integrated technical education, user lifecycle optimization, and community-driven growth.
1. User Education and Lifecycle Optimization
Created and hosted detailed technical documentation and FAQs on Intercom for seamless user support.
Distributed technical docs through automated Intercom chatbots to improve accessibility and efficiency.
Implemented Segment to capture critical product analytics events across the entire user lifecycle.
Set up Intercom product tours to enhance user onboarding and drive activation rates.
2. Social Content and Community Management
Managed the Medium blog, publishing tens of roadmap updates every week and community announcements to keep customers informed and engaged.
Ran the X (formerly Twitter) account, creating short-form content that went viral several times and hosting Spaces AMAs to foster community interaction.
3. NFT Partnership and Brand Integrations
Pioneered a partnership program with Terra NFT communities, embedding Orion Money’s brand identity into Terra’s most renowned NFT collections.
Successfully integrated the brand into multiple NFT traits, driving visibility and aligning Orion Money with Terra’s active user base.
This collaboration culminated in the creation of a new playbook for partnerships and significantly increased user engagement. The results were a strengthened brand presence and scalable growth strategies that positioned Orion Money for long-term success.
