Overview
Fiverr is a leading freelance services marketplace connecting businesses with skilled freelancers across 10+ categories such as graphic design, digital marketing, and programming. With $110M in total funding and a public company since 2020, Fiverr supports small to mid-sized enterprises in accessing top global talent. Their platform, used by millions worldwide makes them a key player in the gig economy. I joined Fiverr in 2019 as their full-time Head of Marketing for the UK region to help them scale growth of their second-largest market after the US to drive localization efforts ahead of their IPO.
Scope
As part of the International Expansion team, my remit was to drive GMV growth in the UK market by localizing messaging and channel marketing. Key activities included: • Analyzing channel and market data to optimize paid marketing, SEO, and affiliate campaigns • Sourcing local affiliates and influencers via Upfluence • Creating long-tail SEO articles with local publishers • Organizing community events, including a sell-out event with Steven Bartlett (The Diary of a CEO) • Collaborating with the Growth team on localized product growth experiments • Coordinating OOH campaigns on billboards and the London Tube for brand awareness, in coordination with paid search efforts
Impact
During my time at Fiverr, we achieved significant growth milestones: • Grew UK Gross Merchandising Value (GMV) by 80% • Increased average basket size by 8% • Elevated market positioning and moved up-market beyond the 'Fiverr' positioning This growth in the UK/EU regions was pivotal to Fiverr's IPO, which occurred 9 months into my role.
